Yealand's Personal Development Curriculum
At Yealand Church of England Primary School all our children have a timetabled weekly lesson on Personal, Social and Health Education, which is connected with our Relationships and Sex Education plan.
Children are taught separately in their key stages, so that the children are emotionally able to access the appropriate developmental content for them. We use the SCARF resources throughout school and annually welcome a specialist teacher, who brings Harold (the giraffe) with her, to support the children’s learning further.
Sex Education is taught to Year 5 and 6 children using the ‘Growing Old and Growing Wise’ Christian resources.
Our curriculum offer also includes:
- School Council opportunities
- Eco-crew opportunities
- The Worship Team
- Libraries
- All having at least 2 sessions at Forest School a half term
- Attending Church Services at St. John’s Church
- Supporting the Village Community in fundraising and raising awareness of local issues
- A variety of After School clubs which include; tennis, cooking, arts and crafts, gardening and dance are held throughout the year for pupils to attend.
